The Brazilian youth international has penned a five-year deal which keeps him at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2026.

He will continue to be involved in the senior set-up over the coming months, as part of the pool of young players whose development is aided by training regularly with Guardiola and his coaching staff.

Kayky said: “It’s a dream to be here. I always followed Manchester City, as some Brazilian players are already here. I’m very happy.”

A left-footed winger, Kayky joined Fluminense at Under-9 level and made his debut earlier this year at the age of 17.

Capable of playing off either flank, he went on to score three goals in 32 appearances for the Rio de Janeiro giants and became their youngest ever debutant and youngest goalscorer in the Copa Libertadores.

Manchester City fans welcomed Kayky to the Club and wished him all the best moving forward.

On a human and personal level, Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has done something none of his counterparts have ever done before, reaching the Champions League final in successive seasons with two different teams.

Anything else would have been a bonus. After 25 matches in charge, Tuchel has lost only twice, Chelsea sit fourth in the Premier League having been tenth when he joined, are through to an FA Cup final against Leicester in ten days time and a Champions League final in 23 days.

Tuchel was expected to improve Chelsea given his stature as an elite coach in Europe, but not this dramatically and not this quickly. His four-month anniversary in charge of the club will see him on the touchline for a Champions League final.

Players have taken their games to new levels since Tuchel arrived. Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger, Jorginho, Cesar Azpilicueta, Ben Chilwell and Edouard Mendy are markedly improved players since the German arrived.

The Blues have one of the tightest defences in Europe and have kept a ridiculous 18 clean sheets since Tuchel came in.

It is a sign of a team that is impeccably well-coached and well-drilled, a team that knows exactly what they are doing and players who know exactly where they need to be, when they need to be there and how to get the job done.

The 47-year-old only penned an 18-month contract to replace Frank Lampard but you highly suspect that will be extended in the not too distant future and it is testament to what Tuchel has done having been thrown in the deep end.

The dire 0-0 against Wolves in his first game in charge just 24 hours after arriving in London is a distant memory. Tuchel has already spoken of how he and his coaching staff plotted their tactics for that game on the plane over to London before he had even signed a contract.

It has been a period of immense personal sacrifice from Tuchel, who has largely been confined to a London apartment away from family since he arrived, with just some books and his laptop for company.

With the UK slowly starting to ease coronavirus lockdown restrictions, Tuchel might yet actually go and see the new city he is calling home. If he ventures to the SW6 area of London, he will get a very warm welcome.

Tuchel was asked after Wednesday’s victory about all the sacrifices he has made so far, what with being away from family, in a new country, in a high-pressure job, all this during a global pandemic that has claimed millions of lives.

“It was worth it every single day so far,” he replied with a broad grin.

“I was part of an amazing club from the first day, and I felt huge support from day one. I’m very grateful to be on the sideline with this team.

“The job is not done yet, We are in two finals now and the sacrifice that I, personally have made, has been worth it since day one.”

Tuchel is a humble man off the pitch, yet a daunting and domineering figure on it. He barely sits down on the touchline, is constantly directing traffic and is not afraid to let his players – or the referee – know when something is not going right.

That said, not a lot has gone wrong in west London since the affable German pitched up.

United agreed a deal to sign the 18-year-old Ivorian in October.

However, they allowed him to remain with Serie A side Atalanta for the first half of the season.

The Governing Body Endorsement agreement has been agreed by English football’s governing bodies and the Home Office.

As Diallo now has an Italian passport, United feel that will help him through the process, which was announced earlier this month.

Diallo has been a regular on the bench for Atalanta but has made only two appearances so far this season.

His last involvement for the club is expected to be in Wednesday’s Serie A encounter with Bologna.

His first appearance for United is uncertain. He is not eligible for the FA Youth Cup and the club’s Under-23 side does not have a game until 18 January.

However, with more substitutes allowed on the bench for first-team matches, it is possible Diallo could be fast-tracked into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad, especially as Odion Ighalo’s loan from Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua comes to an end next month.

Arsenal were criticised for allowing him to play on for about 40 minutes, before he was substituted at half-time.

Arteta said he could play in Sunday’s north London derby at Tottenham.

“Maybe it’s a moment we can think: give these people a little more time and use a temporary substitution,” said the Spaniard.

“We have had conversations regarding this issue. It rarely happens in football but it’s common in other sports. It’s just a suggestion if we want to be extra protective.”

Concussion substitutes would allow a temporary replacement while a player who had suffered a head injury was thoroughly checked for signs they were concussed.

Arteta added: “If you have any doubts at any moment, and you need an extra two minutes or five minutes to check somebody, maybe we can think about that.

“The player wants to carry on playing and the doctor has to tick all the necessary boxes to be certain the player is OK to continue.

“So, if we have any extra doubts, OK we give them a little bit more time than necessary, but you cannot play 10 to 15 minutes with 10 men in football.”

Following Sunday’s incident, in which Mexico forward Jimenez fractured his skull, former England striker Alan Shearer said “football needs to wake up” about concussion protocols.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson have also backed calls for their introduction.

Footballers who sustain a suspected concussion, either during training or in a game, should immediately be removed from the pitch and not allowed to return until the appropriate treatment has been administered, according to the Football Association guidelines.

Trials for concussion substitutes are set to begin in English football next season.

Arsenal insisted protocols were followed regarding the decision to allow Luiz to play on.

“Some people can have the perception about whether he should have continued but thankfully we have one of the leading authorities in this country, Gary O’Driscoll, our doctor, who has massive experience in football and rugby,” said Arteta.

“He knows exactly what to do. He did all the testing. He did all the protocols for him to carry on playing.

“Everything was done in the right manner and the only aim here is to protect the welfare of the player.”

GOAL.COM – Kenyan international Michael Olunga has been crowned as the J1-League’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the concluded 2020 season.

The lanky striker scored 28 goals for Kashiwa Reysol and helped them to a seventh-place finish in the concluded season.

The Sun King finished the season as third best scorers with 60 goals. Champions Kawasaki Frontale scored 88 while Yokohama F Marion, who finished ninth, scored 69.

Olunga played a great role for the club and his influence led to his crowning as the best in the concluded season.

“It was a great season for me in 2020,” the Kenya international told Goal after being crowned on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old has further revealed his hopes for the league and African players at large.

“I hope that what I have achieved will have a positive impact on Japan and on the rest of the world,” he continued.

“I hope that the J-League will continue to be the best football in Asia and that more and more African players will play in it.”

The former Gor Mahia striker went on to appreciate his colleagues as well for their role in his achievements.

“Glad to be named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) 2020 in the Meiji Yasuda J-league,” Olunga posted on his social media account.

“First, I want to thank God for this opportunity and blessings throughout this season.

“Also, the collective effort from myself, my teammates, the entire Kashiwa Reysol fraternity and fans helped make this dream realizable for me, and for this, I am grateful.
